Owner/Operator - Ember Cattle Company
Becky is a Virginian native who grew up on her family’s farm, raising Angus beef cattle. She left university early to pursue her passion for agriculture and explore sustainable farming strategies aimed at revitalizing the land and expanding her family’s legacy. After gaining valuable experience working on grass-fed and conventional dairies, beef cattle farms, and collaborating with farmers across Virginia through her past roles on the Virginia Forage and Grassland Council (VFGC) Board and as Coordinator for the VFGC Farmer Mentor Program, Becky has honed her skills in adaptive grazing and innovative forage systems. In 2023, Becky founded Ember Cattle Company, a low input South Poll Cattle operation, following a successful 15-year business partnership with her father, Glenn, at Mountain Glen Farm.Ember Cattle Company embodies Becky's dedication to living a life deeply rooted in the land and her cattle, while also building a sustainable and profitable cattle business. Shortly after launching the venture, Becky’s fiancé, Ben, joined her on the farm, and together, they are turning their shared passion for farming into a thriving reality. Currently, Becky continues to operate ECC, serves on the South Poll Grass Cattle Board, and educates the public about agricultural life through online videos and vlogs. Beyond her work as a herdswoman, she embraces her creative passions as an herbalist and producer of natural skincare products, while delighting her family with meals crafted from locally sourced and wild-foraged ingredients that reflect her commitment to wholesome living and environmental stewardship.
