Matthew Menke

President - Menke Farm and Ranch Inc.

I am a 6th generation farmer in Southeast Texas that has been transitioning from a conventional to a regenerative grazing system over the past 5 years. I am now focused on the soil first. I recognize that healthy soil includes and is dependent on a diverse microbiological component that we as stewards must protect and promote. Our job as graziers is to optimize the utilization of solar energy, atmosphere, plants, and healthy soil. The animal's job is to harvest plants, convert the energy into a useable food source for humans, recycle the excess nutrients, combine them with microbiology, and distribute them back to the soil in a manner that increases the health of the soil and regenerates the land and the entire system.
