Eric is a native of Wisconsin, where he attended Marquette University. Upon graduation, he commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Army as an infantry officer. He eventually became a Special Forces officer and recently graduated from the Naval Postgraduate School where he now is faculty. He is leading the Naval Postgraduate School’s Regenerative Grazing Open Air Lab (R-GOAL) launched in September 2024 to implement and assess regenerative grazing practices on 2,500 acres of Department of Defense (DoD) land, with potential expansion across the DoD’s 26 million acres. Using Adaptive Multi-Paddock grazing, the project leverages variable stock densities to reduce fuel loads preventing wildfires, revitalize training areas, enhance warfighter proficiency, and improve water infiltration. R-GOAL establishes baseline metrics, with ongoing evaluations to demonstrate scalability and operational benefits.
